A little bit about me and my work

Hi! I'm Jenny. I am originally from Germany, but now live in Las Vegas with my husband and my two beloved dogs Beanie and Bodhi. I am a behavior and obedience trainer for all dog breeds and ages.

I spent many years training dogs in Germany and also coaching their owners because in a good dog-human relationship both parties should understand what they can expect from each other. I got certified and started dog training part-time when I got my first dog from an animal shelter. He came into my house with all sorts of problems, but during my visits to the shelter, I found that many of the dogs there tended to be anxious or aggressive. I soon realized that these unfortunate situations occurred because the dogs had undergone bad experiences or had not received proper socialization. The new owners often had their hands full, and I was happy to offer them my expertise and knowledge in training their dogs. In this way, I have been able to constantly expand my experiences.

My later dogs (including Beanie and Bodhi) were also shelter dogs, and I am still happy today when I see what changes take place in a dog after a few training sessions.

I never stopped educating myself because every dog is different and some dogs need different training methods than other dogs. A well-balanced training should always be flexible enough that it works for dogs and humans and is feasible. I completed my last dog training certificate in 2018 in Germany, I completed the "Aggression in Dogs Master Course", and also received a fear free shelter certificate for understanding dogs in special situations and environments.

In my training, I involve the owner 100% because the dog must direct its obedience to its owner rather than to me. In addition to training the dog, it is equally, if not more, important that owners understand and learn how to help their dog. Dog training heavily involves owner training as well because a dog can understand expectations only when the owner can give clear commands and knows what is on the dog's mind. I have therefore made it my task to focus my training not only on the dog but also on the owner because a dog and its owner are a team.

In my spare time, I work for the amazing Pawtastic Friends (PF - Providing enrichment training programs to rescue dogs, preparing them for adoption), I also volunteered at the animal shelter  C.A.R.E.  in Skokie, IL. Dogs are my passion.

One more thing: Each dog and person is unique. This can of course lead to misunderstandings between you and your dog and with recurring situations that you perceive as a problem. Various behavioral problems and frustrations can lead to excessive barking, lunging, reduced obedience or even biting actions.

According to CDC dog bite statistics, more than 4.5 million people report being bitten by dogs each year in the United States. More than 800,000 people per year report that they required medical attention for dog bites. About 30-50 people are killed by dogs each year.

It is important to recognize these behavior problems and to counteract them before they lead to unpleasant situations.

With each dog-human team, I work with you to develop your own goals taking into account your dog’s talents and experiences. The exercises that we carry out during the training can be ideally integrated into everyday life. In the training units you gradually learn how you can bond even more closely with your dog and what type of character he/she has.
